How to succeed at GDI

It’s not an easy question to answer. I have studied the methods of various high achievers at GDI and the bulk of them made their name quite a few years back. They met success with a method or two and they stuck with it to reach glory. After that, their previous success kept them going. What does that mean? People see some names at the top of the leaderboard and they think if they join them, they will learn directly from them and have the save level of success. So they cancel their existing membership, wait for the two weeks compulsory down time and then rejoin GDI under a leader they think will take them to the promised land. This keeps the leaders propped up even though their methods no longer work or not as well.

Do they reach the promised land? Not quite. Are the leaders not willing to help them? They are but the landscape has changed. What happened two years ago may not work today. Let me give you a few examples.

  • Bulk email:
It worked for a lot of so called GDI super stars like Ash Mufareh. Bulk email was legal once upon a time. People would buy email lists, upload them to an email blaster program and blast away. Then the laws changed and now you cannot send emails to people without them having opted in. Those whose success depended upon mass email / bulk email, they survived for a while on their past glory but after a while, faded away.
  • Online Classifieds:
As CraigsList and Kijiji started getting popular, people started posting Ads to them to draw traffic. It is a time consuming activity so they came out with software that could post to online classifieds all day long. That catapulted some to the top of the heap in a very short time. But then CraigsList and others tightened their policies and forbid posting of Ads about money making opportunities. So much so that they forced GDI to issue a directive to it’s members that they must not post GDI Ads on CraigsList. Accordingly, this bunch fizzled out.
  • Youtube videos:
As Youtube started making it’s ascent, smart marketers started placing promotional videos on Youtube. Then they would use automated bots to post comments on their videos and like / favorite videos. The result – their videos would show up at the top of searches. That worked like gangbusters for a while and catapulted Brian Bear to the top.
  • Safelists:
A safelist is a mailing list to which everyone signs up voluntarily. The premise is, you send me your Ads, I will send you mine. For a while, these things worked and made good money for Tim Sebert and others.
  • Custom Software / memberships:
Tissa Godavitarne and Stone Evans invested in membership based software and forums and it did great for them.
  • PPC (Pay Per Click) Ads on Google:
It worked like gangbusters for a whole bunch of people for quite a few years. But Google and others have taken a stiffer stance against Ads for ‘Making Money from Home’ propositions. GDI is a very legitimate business but a lot of shady outfits abused the freedom and the result is a crackdown. A slew of internet marketers saw their businesses grind to a halt once Google blocked their Ads.

So what to do to succeed now?

Well all the above activities did one thing – generate traffic. In online marketing just like in conventional marketing, you need traffic or people to visit your business, offline or online. The above methods still exist but you can’t abuse them any more. You can still generate traffic but you have to work harder and smarter and you must use additional methods that are more popular today / generate better results today. Methods change over time and their effectiveness changes over time. You must keep updating your methods and skill set.

So if I can generate traffic today, can I succeed with GDI?

You can but there are better offers today than GDI. Companies like GVO are now swimming in the same waters and have better offerings. GDI restricted itself to offering you a .ws domain, basic web hosting and email. If you wanted a .com or .net domain and more robust web hosting, you had to go elsewhere. People flocked to GDI for it’s income potential. GVO offers a very attractive income plan for the same $10/month that GDI charges. In addition it lets you host four domains (.com, .net or any other), gives you an auto responder, video producer, blog creator, web conferencing and a whole slew of other features that GDI does not.

GVO also provides free online training through live webinars on a daily basis. That makes it easy to succeed. GDI relies on it’s affiliates to train other affiliates.

Bottom line: Can you succeed at GDI today? Yes but you’ll get better bang for your buck with GVO.

I'm glad I asked you for details. Thanks man. I agree that it's necessary to follow a system. I already got one signup and hopefully will get more soon.
    Thanks again.

Thanks for the clarification. Hopefully, this will help those who want to succeed with GDI or similar program.
It is important to note that the nature of GDI system will not make many of its affiliates succeed on a solo effort.  Over 90% of online players are newbies and many of them see GDI as a webmaster tool, so to say. They misconceived their prospects as webmasters and that as such there is no market for the product. They will therefore not waste their time promoting it.
A team with a system in place will do better because online business is a game of the numbers. A newbie who finds himself among such team will correct his wrong view about GDI and will be encouraged my the successes of other team members.
The truth is i did not get any referral by myself nor from my upline until i joined our free GDI collective marketing.
    Thanks
