In Feb / Mar 2012, Google started de-indexing private blogging networks whose sole purpose was to provide backlinks to their paying members. You paid to join the blog networks and they would provide you thousands of backlinks from their network of blogs to your website. That made your website look like a popular site to Google and they would rank it higher in searches as compared to other competing sites. It worked for a while but not any more.  I finally got one of my pet projects off the ground and I thought I’ll share it with you. Being self employed for over 20 years, I always felt that there should be a forum where self employed people can share their successes and get some peer applause. In a corporate setup, when you achieve something, your colleagues gather and cheer you, you are given awards, you get mentioned in the company circular and you get recognized in some form. When the airlines started charging for checked-in baggage, there was a lot of hue and cry. Their (the airlines) excuse was and remains, that fuel has become very expensive.
