Banner Ad rotating software

Posted on October 9th, 2009 by admin

We needed a software that could hold all our Ads from all sources and render / rotate them on the various web properties we have. As the number of websites and blogs that we manage has grown and continues to grow, it was becoming very cumbersome to add new advertisers and delete non-performing ones – one site at a time.

A consultant pointed us in the direction of OpenX Ad Server and Boy! have we been impressed. It installs on a linux host, and does everything for you. You define websites in OpenX. Then you define the zones within the websites/blogs where you want your Ads posted. You define your advertisers and their campaigns. You add their banners. Then you tie their campaigns to your zones and that’s it.

  1. Is it easy to implement? I am not too technical?

  2. The technical part is not really difficult but if you don’t want to go through the trouble, you can ask someone to install it for you.

I paid a guy $75 to install it for me. Saved me time.

Then the learning process takes time – not technically but conceptually.

If you are managing multiple blogs and websites, it is a huge time saver.
